The historic
cellars of Courménil
We are only the 6th family in more than 1000 years of the Great History of this estate.
Such a heritage requires us to be, not its owners, but rather its fleeting custodians, hoping to pass on the passion for it to future generations .

So it is essential to protect this heritage behind sturdy wrought-iron gates while letting the angels take their small share.

What better than centuries-old cellars listed as Monuments Historiques in which to mature exceptional Calvados

These magnificent 18th-century buildings that one always wonders why the French language calls "communs", so handsome are they, and nothing about them is...common!

Courménil and the Revolution
The inventory taken during the French Revolution already mentions the tens of thousands of litres of cider and eaux-de-vie housed in the cellars of Courménil.

The Committee of Public Safety lost no time in seizing them for "the crime of aristocracy" . It can hardly have been unaware of the great quality of those stocks! ( a crime of drink?)
