Calvados Pays d'Auge XO Hors d'Âge 20 years

10 medals, including 2 gold medals, 2 vermeil medals and 6  silver medals, honour this delicate blend of great Calvados vintages, double distilled in the art of the prestigious AOC Pays d’Auge appellation.

This Calvados, the favourite of the elite of the French army, has received the extremely rare Medal of Excellence of the Commander-in-Chief of the Special Forces.

Aged in our historic cellars for 20 years on average, the XO of the Château de Courménil goes up to 31 years for its oldest vintage. A choice 3 times more costly than the 6 years required to qualify for this appellation, but that is the price of excellence, and the result was worth the patience.

To the eye, mahogany and old gold, a witness to the very long ageing  of its vintages.

On the nose it is refined and opulent, with notes of tarte tatin, lightly spiced and roasted with toasted oak.

On the palate, a strong aromatic power combining baked apples from our orchards, candied fruits and toasted almonds from casks fired over a wood fire, for a finish of rare length.

Within it you find the intriguing pepper notes of the 2012 vintage, the honey of the 2004 coeur de chauffe, the power of the famous 1998 vintage, the intensity that earned the gold medal for the 1995 vintage, and the vivid apple aromas of the 2015 harvest, whose Calvados also won a gold medal
