When a gold medal Calvados

joins forces with a gold medal for Whisky

Casks that matured the 2014 calvados and the 2018 pommeau

The renown of a cask travels fast, and sometimes crosses the path of other legends. Last year, 15 of the casks from the Distillerie de Courménil went to the Jackton Distillery in Scotland.

They had matured our astonishing 2018 vintage Pommeau de Normandie blended with our rare Gold Medal Calvados Pays d'Auge 2014,

The Auld Alliance, that historic pact sealed in the 13th century between France and Scotland, was not only a matter for kings.

Today, in the quiet of our Norman cellars, we celebrate it with a "spirituous" union : that of the apple and the barley, of clay-and-limestone soil and thousand-year-old peat.

A unique experience in which one of the most sought-after scotches in Scotland comes to draw from our Normandy casks the sweetness and the aromas of the apples and calvados of the Distillerie de Courménil.

What pride for our region to learn that the casks prepared by the last cooperage in Normandy, after ageing the calvados and pommeau of Courménil with such success, will live on ageing Scotch whiskies voted best whisky in the world several times over

Courménil pommeau casks sent to Scotland to Raer Spirits

A link between two peoples and two spirits of character.

At the very first tastings a subtle Norman attack springs forth, indulgent and smooth, before the long, mysterious finish carries you straight to the cliffs of Scotland.

Waiting to taste this unique blend is going to be very hard!

Raer Spirits and the Château de Chambord gathered around the casks

But that is not all!

These Scots, so friendly and so fond of France, have formed another incredible alliance.

It is on the estate of the Château de Chambord that the Jackton Distillery takes a few old oaks to make the small casks in which their famous whiskies will age.

A range so elite that they chose RAER ALLIANCE, a perfect name for this brand

After receiving the Buckingham coat of arms, and to celebrate the ties between France and Scotland,  the Château de Chambord, the Jackton Distillery and the Distillerie de Courmenil,  we had the immense honour of a fine celebration, invited by the British Ambassador and the Deputy First Minister of Scotland.
